  • Boating: During the spring and summer, boating is huge here. The size and shape of the lake make it perfect for every type of boat, from sailing to wakeboarding. There are plenty of marinas nearby that offer rentals if you don't bring your own.

One of the best trails, Cross Timbers Hiking Trail, will take you along the southern edge of the lake, with great views, as well as a bit of a challenge.   • Wildlife: Both the Hagerman National Wildlife Refuge and the Tishomingo National Wildlife Refuge are a short drive away. You’ll love coming in the fall and winter, when migrating geese, ducks, and even bald eagles can be spotted.
